Deepwater Canal Front Home with Room to Breathe
1102 Dolphin Ln Ortona, FL 33471
Deepwater Canal Front Home with Room to Breathe $279k
GULF ACCESS FOR SAILBOATS to 55 ft mast. Turkey Creek is a deep freshwater hurricane hole canal community on the Caloosahatchee river, which gives easy access to the Gulf or Atlantic. Newer 60 ft dock with outlying pilings can easily accommodate two 48 ft boats with 2x30 and 2x15 amp electric service.
Elevated cracker style home has newer wood decks on all 4 sides. Huge parking/party space under the house has 9 ft overhead clearance. Interior ceilings are all 10 feet, with Hunter ceiling fans in every room. The kitchen was remodeled in 2018 with quartz countertops, new white cabinetry and EVP flooring. The 45x12 ft screen porch with hot tub/spa overlooks the picturesque canal to the south.
A second kitchen, laundry, compact bath and 15x15 workshop are downstairs, all air-conditioned. Easy addition of a bedroom downstairs or conversion of the workshop would complete the "mother-in-law" apartment. The lot is 100 ft deep by 97.5 ft on the private canal. Zillow has the width wrong. There are lots of trees including oak, gumbo limbo, crepe myrtle, jacaranda, avocado, mango, coconut palm and bananas. Extensive landscaping including roses, dragon fruit, pineapples and passion fruit will supply your kitchen.
What I love about this home
Turkey Creek is nestled among fragrant orange groves and verdant pasture land. Living 10 ft above ground level provides great views and pleasant breezes that you must experience to appreciate. Amazingly friendly and helpful neighbors share boating and RVing as common interests. Every Friday evening at 5 the neighborhood holds a potluck/happy hour. There are annual awards by Turkey Creek Yacht Club for the farthest travelled by RV (land yacht) and by boat. Though not formally a retirement community, there are presently no children living in the 60+ homes. The Ortona community center (2 miles) offers free exercise classes 3 times a week, bingo on Friday, monthly spaghetti dinners, children’s programs and a free library. The beautiful small town of LaBelle is only 12 miles away with churches, shopping, restaurants and a fun community theatre.
